A Kiwi classic is born
Kurols Trademark was first filed 25 May 1934 and officially registered on 11 October 1934. Listed as Class 3 Antiseptic Throat Pastilles for One pound ten shillings to Brown Bros & Geddes Ltd, a wholesale manufacturing confectioner of George Street, Auckland.
1968 - 1978
Kurols passed through multiple ownership changes as the industry evolved and companies merged. Through this lineage, Kurols was passed between some of New Zealand’s most iconic confectionery makers and by 1978, Kurols was transferred to Aulsebrooks Ltd.
1980
The Mayceys Era Begins
In 1980, the iconic Kurols brand was welcomed into the Mayceys Confectionery Ltd family, where it has remained ever since, continuing a tradition of quality and care.
Over 90 years of
soothing goodness
Mayceys has proudly manufactured and marketed
Kurols for the last 46 years, maintaining the quality and
care established over decades.
For the first time in decades, Kurols had a packaging refresh – replacing the old twist wrap to the new pillow pack for enhanced freshness.
2025
In 2025, Kurols expanded its heritage of trusted throat care with the creation and launch of the Kurols Dual Action range.
Designed to combine soothing comfort with added benefits, our new range brings together Kurols’ time-honored natural ingredients with modern formulations.
This marks a significant step in our ongoing commitment to innovation while staying true to nearly a century of Kiwi tradition.
From wartime resilience to modern-day tradition, Kurols continues its legacy of trusted care for every generation.
