Mānuka Honey

Mānuka honey is produced by bees that forage on the native mānuka bush (Leptospermum scoparium), a flowering plant unique to New Zealand. Blooming for only a short period each year, mānuka flowers provide a rich, distinctive nectar that gives this honey its characteristic depth of flavour and dark golden colour.

A key natural compound found in mānuka honey is methylglyoxal (MGO), which develops from nectar unique to the mānuka flower. MGO levels are carefully measured to reflect the concentration present in each batch, offering a recognised way to grade mānuka honey.

By sourcing from both the remote landscapes of Wairarapa in the North Island and the sun-drenched Mapua area of the Nelson district, our honey used brings together the unique qualities of two of New Zealand’s most respected mānuka producing regions—capturing the essence of place, season, and craft.
